i just had another take on that thread, so i decided to start a new one.. i've been going to the meetings off and on lately, so for the ones of you who haven't been in a while, you would not believe how much the the borg is constantly repeating that phrase over and over again.

The WTS has tapped into the people's survival instinct and is manipulating them with it. They are physically free to leave, just not mentally/emotionally free to leave. When you enslave a person's mind, you enslave them physically, as well. You can control them against their will. They are not 100% free to leave. They are also being blackmailed to stay if they have family in.
2 special pioneers i knew were at the assembly last year i wanted to know how they were since they have special pioneered for 20 years.
both got sick and have chronic fatigue.
they quit pioneering to rest and get better.

I've often wondered the same thing. Why would god bless me and not another more worthy person? I have decided that god does not care, that he allows us to fulfill our own prayers but takes the credit for the work. Have you ever noticed that prayers are answered mostly through other people's or our own actions? Try this: say a prayer to yourself, not to god, and work toward the fulfillment of that prayer, which is what we are all told to do anyway, and see if your prayer gets answered. If so, we really are responsible for getting what we need. There is always the human element involved. Most prayers are answered through human means.

she was taught that the end was coming in the late 50's.. today she said that the terrible conditions in the world today prove that the end is near.
i told her that i. think that conditions in the world were a lot worse during ww1 and ww2 and it looks like things.

The PO in my last congregation looks just like your avatar. He's human but behaves less so. Anyone in my cong. would recognize him in your avatar and laugh at what his picture was made into. I got a big kick out of this.

Maybe the expiration date for all of the now passed away generation teaching has come and gone and they are despatate to come up with an alternative that will keep people in the org. It seems that when they change one teaching, many others must be changed due to the spider web of connection they have with that one teaching. The thing they are worried about now may be how to keep people interested after the expiration date for a teaching comes and goes without so much as a hint of fulfillment.

I don't see the big deal of making disciples if the new system won't happen in our lifetime. When people die, they will automatically get a resurrection to earth whether they are JW's or not. What's the point. I often wondered what the urgency was when they talked about the 5,000 being added in John the Baptist's day. Oh, those people could actually get into heaven back then. They HAD to get baptized before they died.
